Taken the plunge...well dipped a toe!

2022 has been a reflective year. I realised that getting older with a body that is not working fully is not conducive to teaching: putting in the hours I feel I need to do the best job I can and that the kids deserve has taken its toll. I didn't want to let my students or my colleagues down and be known as that teacher who just 'faded away'. So I decided on a career change...yikes!!!! After 28 years of teaching, I decided to make my 'pawtraits' my new money earner.

However, its seems that I am not easily replaceable in the world of DT teaching; I still feel loved and needed! So now I have got the best of both worlds. I teach just A level leaving free time to develop my drawing. This means I still have contact with people and enjoy working with amazing young adults (they try to keep me young in mind!) and time to build up my new business.

So I might not have taken the plunge as planned back in February, but I have certainly dipped my toe in - maybe a whole leg!

Thank you to everyone who says lovely things to me about my work and who gave me the confidence to do this (especially Martin). Please keep doing this as us artistic types can be very insecure at times. 😊
