Trumpy ~ Aug 2015
My parents' cat drawn on A4. The paper was of poor quality, but I was pleased with the outcome....my first'Pawtrait'.
Cobwebs ~ Aug 2015
Another of my parents' cats drawn on A4. This time I was curious about the use of black on black.

Sam ~ Aug 2015
It would be rude of me not to draw the parent-in-laws' dog!

Ronnie & Willow ~ Sept 2015
My first commission!
A good friend had faith in me to capture the characters of these two; Ronnie with his ears up and Willow with her ears down.
This time I invested in some good quality paper and worked on a much larger scale of A2.
This was nerve racking, but so enjoyable. I am extremely pleased with the outcome, and more importantly, so was my friend. Thank you Sophia.

Kipper~ Oct 2015
My second commission explored a very different fur texture. Again, good quality paper was used, but I experimented with a different colour background; my black phase was over! The request was for A2 size and I had the honour of taking lots of photos of Kipper to work from.
The result - a very happy Glover family and my business 'Pawtraits by Lara' was launched.

Nellie ~ Nov 2015
This lovely lady, drawn on A3, was commissioned for a 50th birthday present. I like the way Nellie is peeping out through her fur and I especially like her shiny nose!

Alfie ~ Nov 2015
Alfie was the first of the secret Christmas commissions. He has a lovely glossy coat which was achieved by blending many browns and creams.

Vincent ~ Nov 2015
This fine fellow needed his collar to 'finish' him off. He looks very thoughtful.

Maybelle ~ Nov 2015
Maybelle came with several issues; red eye and an over- exposed image. However the pose was lovely and I enjoyed the challenge.

Ollie ~ Dec 2015
Ollie was a very special commission as unfortunately he is no longer with his owners. There was just one good photo to work from, which was also precious, so no pressure!
I love the way Ollie looks so alert and proud with his long fur blowing in the wind.

Storm ~ Dec 2015
This festive chap required some guess work for his front. I must learn to take better photos of my work as not all the detail is showing.

Boswel ~ Dec 2015
My last Christmas commission, done in the nick of time! Boswel has a lot of character and is well known in the neighbourhood.

Flissy ~ Jan 2016
I really enjoyed drawing Flissy; she looks very 'sassy' in her neckerchief. I was pleased with the colours and textures of her fur and nose!

Twiglet ~ Jan 2016
OK, so not a pawtrait, more of a 'hoof print'? I had never drawn a horse in my life (to be honest they rather scare me), but I was up for the challenge to draw this beautiful beast. I worked hard on creating the muscle tone and markings using many shades of brown, cream and yellows and I think I suceeded.

Cookie ~ March 2016
My favourite drawing so far; Cookie has become the face of Pawtraits!
Again I have got sucked in by those big brown eyes.
Riva ~ Feb 2016
This little lady has such beautiful expresional eyes and lovely warm velvety ears.

Sandy ~ April 2016
A beautiful old dog, enjoying a longwalk. I enjoyed using my reds & pinks for her tongue.
Todd ~ April 2016
This cheeky chap looks very dapper in his spotty bow tie. The challenge was in getting the contrasting fur colours.
Sylvie ~ May 2016
A beautiful photograph to work from, it was hard to do Sylvie justice. This commision was for A4 and it took a while for me to adjust to this scale.

Peanut ~May 2016
This lovely little pony was drawn from a very small and old printed photo. The family requested no bridle and so adjustments to the mouth had to be made.
Lottie & Harvey ~ July 2016
I was really pleased to be asked to draw this fine duo; I like working on the larger format of A2 and enjoyed showing their glossy coats. Harvey's tongue and mouth added another challenge and range of colours!

Nutmeg ~ July 2016
A surprise birthday present commissioned for a dear friend. Lots of skullduggery going on!

Princess Millie ~ July 2016
Can I draw black cats...yes I can! Drawn on dark navy blue paper, enabled her royal highness's eyes to shine out.

Dissie ~ September 2016
What a cutie! Tried something a little different - no I didn't run out of time or paper!!!

The 'Moo' ~ November 2016
Am I allowed to have favourites? I absolutely loved drawing this fine chap. He was certainly a challenge, but working on A3 gave me plenty of room to capture his character.
Skye ~ December 2016
It is amazing how many tones a black dog has. Made all the more beautiful by her shiny, sleek coat.

Naska ~ November 2016
Another long haired challenge with very soulful eyes.

Sprite ~ December 2016
Sadly an emergency Christmas commission after a much loved family pet passed away just before the festivities.
Drawing done from a small grainy photo taken on an old mobile phone.

Paddy & Blue ~ December 2016
Christmas seems to be a time for people to remember lost pets.
Blue was made much harder to draw by the lack of a good quality photo. He had amazing blues eyes - the left had been blind since birth.
Paddy seems like he was a gentle old soul.

Archie ~ December 2016
A quick Christmas present for my brother-in-law! Shhh! Don't tell him...!

Kipper & Bella ~ June 2017
A birthday commission for a very special and beautiful young lady.
I have to confess that had never drawn a human before! I think I was helped that my lovely model was side on and with most of her face buried into Kipper's fur.
Happy birthday Bella!

Bella ~ January 2018
Meet Bella the dog. A difficult combination of black and long haired fur, however I can still find those different tones. I need a new black pencil though!

Marley ~ December 2019
Another much loved family pet that has passed on.
I enjoyed getting back into the swing of things as I hadn't drawn a pet for nearly two years. I hope I have managed to capture his faithful character...?

Dogger, Cromarty & Piglet ~ July 2020
Life gets so busy and the day job somewhat takes over. However I am very grateful to have been asked to draw this trio of rascaliness! (Have I made that word up?)
My challenge here was to balance all three on one composition and to keep the paper clean in between dogs.

Cilla ~ December 2020
A lovely old lady, much loved and much missed.
Sid ~ November 2020
It is sad when a faithful doggy friend passes on, especially if you grew up alongside them. I hope this picture will bringing much happiness.
